I have metal in the transmission pan and the filter is dirty
Dirty oil and filter
it could be low on fluid or dirty filter or internal problems.
Your fishtank gets dirty quicker.
this transmission moves extremely slowly in drive up to 40 miles. Is the dirty filter the problem?
The transmission fluid filter typically sits at the bottom on the trans oil pan. the oil in the trans gets picked up through the filter, and then proceeds through the gears, (and clutches if an auto). With a dirty transmission fluid filter, it'll be full of metal shavings and particulate. This, in turn, will not allow your trans to get the required amount of fluid....Causing heat and premature wear....It can also cause your transmission to hesitate....Which can be unsafe when making turns through traffic. Hope that helped you. Good luck!
Most likely causes are low transmission fluid level, dirty transmission fluid, or clogged transmission fluid filter.
Worn bands Dirty/burned fluid Plugged filter
Auto? Low or dirty transmission fluid? Plugged filter? Bad transmission pump? When my husband's car wouldn't shift (it was an automatic) it was his crankshaft sensor. It ran fine after that.
The " dirty " oil in the oil filter mixes with the clean oil
This is a trick question, even though I don't think you meant it to be.To check remove from vehicle and inspect, if it plugged or excessively dirty it is bad.The trick partIf the filter is bad there is a serious problem with the transmission.
Low fluid level, and/or dirty filter. If hot rodded, then extra wear on the transmission.
Low on fluid, dirty filter, worn clutches.
