Timbuktu is a city in Mali. It is located in Western Africa.
It was an important place during the 15th and 16th century. It is the most famous Islamic city in Africa. It is responsible for spreading Islam in Africa and the major Islamic structures and Islams gather here for festivals and etc.
It has a population of around 30,000 people. Timbuktu was an important trading outpost for North Africa decades back. Arabs, Europeans and North African get involved in trade here very often.
Today, Timbuktu is used to generally refer to a faraway place, and many people don't believe it exists, despite it being an actual place. This is largely in part due to fabricated stories of it being a place of wonder, especially by the man known as Leo Africanus.
The people of Timbuktu mostly eat couscous, chicken, honey and bread.
