A wheel bearing could.
An extremely loose wheel bearing can cause the cv joint to be damaged.
On the cv joint attached to the front differential, if you take off the boot, in front of the bearing, there is a cir clip. If you remove the cir clip the whole cv joint slides out of the differential. Have fun...
If you only hear it when it is moving, it is the tranny or a bearing. if it does not change pitch when the tranny shifts, it is a wheel bearing or cv joint. if it rumbles when you turn sharp left or right, it is a cv joint.
you need to take off the rotor and caliper and braket of course, take the axel nut off. Take the three bolts out of the wheel bearing and pull the wheel bearing out. Then the cv joint should come right out. You may need to put a flat pry bar behind the cv joint and the front diff to pop it out.
Defective CV joint or bad wheel bearing.
bad wheeling bearing
wheel bearing is on the alxewhere the tire fits thecv joint is aaxle thatcomeoff the control arm and fits in to the transmission it has a rubber boot that cover it also
CV (Constant-Velocity) joint
Did you replace the CV joint itself? If the boot is torn then that is your problem.
You have to take it loose from the front bearing then pry it out of the trans. Big Job
First, check the lug nuts and wheel bearing... maybe it really IS coming off.If both of those are okay, next check the CV joint. Typically a CV joint that's worn that bad will have a torn or damaged "boot". Whenever you see a damaged CV joint boot, just replace the CV joint. After-market boots seldom work.
