Important groups of lipids are fats , oils, triacyl glycerol; phospholipids, waxes and terpenes including steroids and carotenoids.This last group ie carotenoids and steroids is the lipid that are not made up of fatty acid but they are composed of isoprenoid units, their examples are cholestrole and red pigment carotin of carrots.
