Your body goes into starvation mode because you probably haven't eaten anything in more than eight hours (if you're getting enough sleep) and you won't have anything to eat until lunchtime (by which time you haven't eaten anything in, say, 12 or 13 hours). I have found that the best way to lose weight is to start with a healthy breakfast. I wake up each morning and weigh myself. This way I will know if the day before was a hit or a miss and I can reflect on what I did that was good and bad about the day before. In the morning I start my breakfast with oatmeal with some splenda brown sugar. I find by starting off with a good breakfast I am less likely to snack on food that is bad, because eating a bad breakfast encourages bad eating the entire day. I then eat a sensible lunch, and the last meal should be eaten no later then 5pm. You should also make sure that you exercise at least 20 minutes a day.
