Thousands of refugees are fleeing wars in Syria and Afghanistan, and also difficulties in other parts of Asia in Africa, and are trying to make their way to Europe in search of a better life. Some have died on the way. There are also large numbers to deal with, so distributing them around Europe from the first European countries they arrive in is difficult. Greece and Italy are the main countries that they first arrive in, so those countries are having problems and need more help. Some other European countries have been helpful, but some have not been. Promises have been made, but not always been honoured. It is an ongoing issue, still to be resolved.
The "European Refugee Crisis" refers to the roughly 2 million Non-Europeans, mostly Muslims, who have migrated to Europe by walking overland and taking boats across seas (like the Aegean or Mediterranean). A significant subset of these migrants are genuine refugees, fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. However, a much larger population of these migrants are those seeking improved economic possibilities in Europe. The migration issue is compounded by the fact that Europe already has massive issues integrating its current Non-European populations and that Europe has no clear and delineated system for dealing with illegal Immigration and asylum seekers.
A very large amount of refugees have been coming from Africa and the Middle East to Europe. As a result, some of the countries in the European Union are directly having to deal with them and others are going to help by taking the refugees.
