What is the cause of the squeaking in my 2003 beetle It squeaks when the wheels go around but not when I brake and also when I get out and when the door shuts?

Could be that your disc brake pads need to be replaced. There is a metal clip that will begin to rub on the rotor when the pad wears down to a certain point. Applying the brakes puts the pads ahead of that clip, ergo the sound goes away while stopping.
The door squeak is solved by some general purpose grease.
