The ages of compulsory school attendance in TX are 6-18. I *believe* a minor can leave school at 17 IF they are enrolled in a GED program (which likely requires parental permission). Ask your school counselor about it.

You need parents permission at the age of 16. But were I live they changed the rules where you have to wait till the end of your school year when you turn 17 and have parents permission and if you drop out where I live. (Alvin which is in Texas) You have 5-7 days to sign up to get a G.E.D or you will be forced to go back to school, so you have to wait till your 18 to fully drop out where I live. Sounds pretty pathetic huh? It is indeed. I have a couple weeks until I am able to drop out. I'm planning to do it as well. If you're not comfortable at school and your parents are like "DO GOOD IN SCHOOL" Have a talk to them without being irate about it. Watch the tome of your voice and they MIGHT understand.

Just get a G.E.D and you can live good. 2 of my friends dad's dropped out and got a G.E.D and are living nice good lives. 1 of them are pretty wealthy have a nice size house beautiful wife and nice new cars.

The point is get a G.E.D or you WILL live a poor life unless you won the lottery (Which is almost impossible). Getting a G.E.D is really fast. So it's worth it buddy. Your not the only won that wants to drop out dude. (Note: A GED is certainly a good thing, but finishing your schooling in a real school helps in many ways, including knowing the difference between 'only won' and the correct 'only one')

Did you know my uncle in the 80's dropped out at the grade of 7th.

What was the legal age to quit high school in the 1930's?

The legal age to quit high school in the 1930s varied by state, but in many places, students could leave school around the age of 14 or 15.
