What is the sequence for tightening the head bolts where do you start?

i usually follow the picture when you get the head gasket. failing that, i start from the centre head bolts and go around in a clockwise direction working outwards. some people suggest using a star pattern like doing up wheels but it's too easy to forget where your up to unless you use a pen marker to remind you which ones you have tightened.

Use new bolts. Apply a light coating of engine oil to the threads of the new cylinder head bolts. Install the new cylinder head bolts to the cylinder head.
