Be sure the interior light over-ride switch is not turned off or the fuse is not blown.
If you are referring to the can light, there is a manual switch on the light that allows it to operate when the doors is closed or to automatically turn on when the door is open and then shut off when the door is closed. If the switch is in this position and the light is staying on, the switch in the door to tell it to turn off is probably not working. the door ajar light is staying on all the time
This is a very common issue with most Ford vehicles. The main door switch is the reason for your problem. Their door latch assemblies go bad often and when this happens it is telling the car that your door is adjar, when it isn't, which is making your dome light come on.
check all pinswitches including tailgate ciruit and rear of headlight switch for melting Done the above: no results. Opening & closing the doors at random solves the problem for a while. I have removed all the lights under the dash to avoid a battery drain, done by the previous owner at 40K. On my own, I have cut into the dome light circuit so one of the switches cuts out the light when not deasired. The "door adjar" light still comes on but I can shut off the overhead light. Simetimes it works by factory specs, but not often
The door latch as a ground wire attached to it. When the door is closed the circuit is completed and the light will go off. Check the ground wire in the door latch.
it is the pastic push button inside of the door jam, when it is pushed IN the light goes off,OUT the light comes ON.
Shut the door!
There are door switches that cause the light to go off. Shut all doors and press gently on each door to see if the light goes out. If not then the door switches will need to be removed one at a time to find the bad one.
