I have removed all the lights under the dash to avoid a battery drain, done by the previous owner at 40K. On my own, I have cut into the dome light circuit so one of the switches cuts out the light when not deasired. The "door adjar" light still comes on but I can shut off the overhead light. Simetimes it works by factory specs, but not often
