I just had the same problem with my 1997 Monte Carlo 3.1. It could be fuel pump, or fuel filter or fuel pump relay. Start with the later two, their cheaper and that's what my problem ended up being. If its the fuel pump your looking at about 300.00. Good Luck
AnswerAlthough, fuel related problems are possible, They are not always the case. A common problem with Gm vehicles is the TCC solenoid. If this is your problem the vehicle will stall as if you were driving a standard transmission and forgot to put the clutch in. Gm also has many problems with the ignition systems on several different engines. Basically the best thing to do is "verify the compaint". Most importantly you want to consider when the compaint happens and under what conditions. I.E. comming off an exit ramp, pulling a hill, humidity level (raining. All play important roles in CORRECT DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE. ANYONE, can throw parts at a vehicle.bad wheel bearings will do that, usually in the front.

Monaco is the name of the country, while Monte-Carlo is a district within Monaco.
I have a 2003 Monte Carlo SS and the only time it turned off on me was when my radiator had broken and the car was over heating. Its turns off so it wont explode.
Could be a number of reasons: Worn-out shocks, wheels out of balance, worn-out tires (or all of the above)
Knowing the firing order of a car while driving it can help troubleshoot any engine problems later. The firing order for a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo is 1-6-5-4-3-2.
It's either air or fuel, that's what I was told when mine sputtered and stalled. Look at those 2 things hope that helps.
While a 74 Monte might be considered a "classic", such a car is not considered collectible and likely never will be.
its time to change your thermostate
The 1995 Monte Carlo could have a vacuum leak. An engine vacuum leak can make the car idle up and accelerate.
"Chevy started making the Monte Carlo in 1970 and it was made with various changes until 1988. They brought it back for a while during 2000-2007, but it is no longer being produced."
Probably needs brake fluid, normal as pads wear down. Level decreases slightly in cold weather.
