The religion itself. It comes from the Middle East, which is centered mostly in southwestern Asia.

Western Asia. Abraham first preached against idolatry, in his birthplace in Babylonia (Iraq), and then came to Canaan(Israel) at God's command.

Judaism is properly considered a WestAsian religion. All of the stories of The Bible except one take place in Asia. That one story, at the end of the Book of Genesis, is the story of Joseph bringing the Children of Israel to Egypt where they settled, were enslaved, and then escaped at the start of the Book of Exodus. Judaism, properly defined, begins when the Children of Israel, fresh out of Egypt, encounter God at Mount Sinai. The part of the story that takes place in Egypt is properly considered to take place in North-East Africa. Rabbinic Judaism emerged in and around Jerusalem 2000 years ago, again in Asia. The final version of the Talmud emerged from Babylon 1500 years ago, also Asia. The great Jewish commentators of 800 years ago were in Egypt -- Africa, Spain and the Rhineland --Europe. (Note: It is fair to say also that Christianity and Islam are also products of west Asia.)
