How do I change oil and oil filter on 2000 Volvo v40 1.9turbo
Well you are in luck - Does not use Transmission Filter.
No..maybe a oil filter wrench to remove it, but, install it by hand (HAND TIGHT)
Use an oil filter wrench such as the one in the link below. I use a similar wrench on my FLHTCU.
You need a special wrench from your auto parts store.Slide the wrenchup into the fuel line on either side of the filter. You need to turn the wrench and push toward the filter on either side. The wrench pushes back mini clamps that grab the flange on each filter end.You do not need the wrench to replace the filter.
You need an OBD scanner or take it to your local Auto Parts store. Stores like Advance auto parts can usually read codes for you. The generic codes they read out can be converted to Volvo's OBD codes. The generic codes usually start with the letter P.
Switch the ignition without starting the car to "drive-mode" (number 2) and hold down the trip-button for a few seconds, turn of the ignition and wait for a few seconds and it will be gone.

stand in front of your van, then left side undernearth, use plier filter wrench to remove the old filter. You can this this filter in kragen or autozone.
back of the block get to it from under the car use oil filter pliers not a slide wrench
It is on the rear undercarriage of the vehicle, passenger side. Not too far from the muffler. Held in place by a clamp and a torx screw to lock the clamp in place. A17mm open end wrench is useful in prying off the hoses.
