or Timing is off. This is known as dieseling. The car runs off combustion and burned gases still in the cylinder even if the ignition is off. Make sure marks are lined up on the camshafts and crankshaft. mostly likely have to remove the valve cover to check timing. Even though its a chain timing can still skip a mark. Another thing to do is make sure the piston is on top dead center and the dist. is firing on the number 1 cylinder.also try Removing the spark plug on number 1 and have someone turn it over as you watch for a spark.
How to remove ignition switch on a 91 Mazda Navajo
Im having the same problem.
by the steering wheel
The ignition switch on a 1995 Mazda pickup is changed by partially removing the steering column to reveal the switch on the side of the column. It can then be unbolted from its mounts, the wires disconnected, and a new switch put in place.
2002 mazda ,,gauges are still working after taking out key..any ideas
Dont know which one it is but my 98 milliena has the same problem and i am going to replace the ignition switch I'll let you know what happens Well i replaced the ingnition switch. My problem is now fixed. My car had other issues with this problem. My starter would engage when the car was not in gear. It would engage in p. and in n. If you have these issues it could very well be the switch. good luck
immobilizer is in the key and pickup ring on the ignition lock
You have to push the key & ignition switch in as you rotate it counterclockwise into the off position !!
mazda 2000 1986 have to hold key to on to keep running when starting
The ignition switch could be the problem. Jiggle the keys a bit. As the switch ages it doesn't "sit" quite right. I know this was the problem when some of my stuff wouldn't work, like wipers, heater fan or power windows. Switch might have to be replaced at some point.
i have no clue i have the same problem with my Mazda 1999 626
plenty of things could be a starter, alternator, ignition switch, bad spark...
Just push it a few feet with the ignition switch turned on and pop the clutch.
where is the ignition module located on a 1988 Mazda b2200
Bad ignition switch?
How do I replace ignition wires on my 98 Mazda 626 2.0L
On a 1981 MAZDA 626 (same engine)2.0 you remove the right/left cover on the steering column (three screws) and remove them. On the left side behind the key cylinder is the disc (round) ignition switch with several wires attached in a circular pattern around it. Wires and connectors (believe 4) go down the steering column from it (this is the ignition switch). The part # is Niehoff LC62411 on my 626. You remove this and install the new part in it's place. Problem is finding the part. Get one from a junkyard if nothing else. Also, the 82 Mazda truck is the same as an 82 Ford Courier (so maybe a Ford dealer has the part). Ford owns about 30% of Mazda and a Ford VP runs it.
I was told the computer was bad. I would test the computer first. It may also be the ignition module. I had the same problem with my '94 Mazda truck. It would be running fine and then just shut off. Also had trouble starting up every now and again. Usually i could just tap on the ignition module several times and it would start right up.
Can someone please tell me how to hot wire the ignition of a 1991 mazda protege?
was wondering where the inertia switch is on a 1996 Mazda protege
Yes look in your manual it will show you were it is but if your having a problem its more likely a wire than the switch.
The switch is bad contacts inside it are corroded or dirty.
same problem.. i've been looking for it the whole day and I can't find it.
