# Raise and support truck on jackstands and remove tire # Remove the brake caliper.After removing the caliper bolts suspend the caliper out of the way with a piece of wire.On front disc brakes remove the 2 caliper mounting bracket to steering knuckle bolts and detach the mounting bracket.On rear disc brakes the rotor can be removed after the caliper has been removed
On the inboard side of the caliper.
Remove wheel Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Use a "C" clamp to full retract piston into caliper body Replace inner and outer pads Re-install caliper PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SET PADS AGAINST ROTOR PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLE
2 WD? Remove wheels Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Remove rotors if they are the "peel off" type If not "peel off" Same as above, but remove center dust cover Remove cotter pin Remove washer and nut Slide rotor off spindle (bearing will slide out first)
A 3/8" Allen wrench will remove that bolt on the front caliper.
Remove wheel Re-install 2 lug nuts to hold rotor in place Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Use a "C" Clamp to fully retract piston into caliper body Replace inner and outer pads Re-Install caliper PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SET PADS AGAINST ROTOR PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLE
Remove the two slider/anchor pins using a 3/8" Allen wrench and the caliper will come off.
For the Chevrolet S-10 model years from 1982 to 1993, the torque for the caliper mounting bolts is 37 ft. lbs. The torque setting for the brake hose-to-caliper bolt is 32 ft. lbs.
you dont need to remove hub just remove the caliper and spider washers on studs
The truck should have "SLT" or "Laramie" badges to signify which one it is
you need toremaove the brake caliper then the caliper mounting bracket and the rotor should slide off...sometimes they rust fast to the hub assembly, if this happens jut spray it up real good with penetrating oil and tap it with a hammer lightly to free the rotor from the hub assembly...
