Its a 46LE or a 700R4.

The 700R-4 was later renamed as the 4L60. They are both the same transmission. However, the 4L60-E is different. It is fully electronic and controlled by a Powertrain Control Module, hence the addition of the "E" on the end. Same internals as the 700, just now its controlled by a PCM instead of a governer and TV Cable.

That answer is not correct.
A 700r4 is like a turbo 350 but, with a four speed instead of 3. The electronic version is called a 4l60e. I have an 89 V2500 suburban with a turbo 400 and a 91 V2500 with a 4l80e. The 91 V2500 came with the 4l80e (first year of that tranny). The 4l80e is just like a th400 but, electronic and with a 4th gear.
