I've always used " regular " unleaded gasoline , 87 octane , in my 5 horsepower Tecumseh engine on my snowblower and my 4 horsepower Tecumseh engine on my lawn mower
Depends on what type of engine it has. If it is a Briggs and Stratton or Tecumseh, then use 30 weight oil. If its honda, use 10w30
model type and code of the mower and from the engine. generally it is metal stamped on the engine and the unit model is near the rear of the mower.

It would depend on the make and type of engine
If it is a Briggs engine it takes SAE30. If it is a Kohler engine it takes 10W-30.

I'm assuming its a riding lawn mower of some type. Our own lawn mowers of this type have an alternator in them that keeps the battery charged

Or, check the phone book, commercial ads for lawn mower repairs, or look for a dealer for YOUR make and model of mower. Look in your phone book under engines, gasoline, all engine manufactures have yellow page listings and authorized dealers advertize there. If you are a do-it-yourself type person, check at your local library for a manual on lawn mower and small engine repair.
Go to www.searspartsdirect.com, and type in model # 143.033700 That is the engine specified for that mower. You can then choose between engine, carb, starter, etc. diagrams and parts lists.
What type of oil does a craftsman riding mower take
A push-type lawn mower does not normally have a chain. Dunno that you might want to use that type of engine to make a motorbike as the engine has a vertical shaft. You would need something to convert the vertical force to horizontal force to drive the gear on the motorbike.
