Hitler was popular because the Treaty of Versailes, introduced by the victorious Allies at the end of World War 1, forced Germany to pay compensation to all of the countries it had been at war with, which left Germany, already shattered by war, with a huge debt, and no way to aid its citizens.

At one point, the mark (the German version of the dollar) was worth so little that the price of a loaf of bread was measured in millions of marks.

Hitler, at the time, was in jail for trying to assasinate the current government leader and take command through a rebelion, had been a sergeant in World War 1.

When he was released from jail, he gave the German people someone to channel their anger at: the Jews and the Allies. He pronounced that the Jews were pigs and responsible for dragging the society down, and that the German people were the most perfect race on earth. He had a dream of a "Third Riech", which he said would last for 1,000 years (Germany would rule the world for 1,000 years).

The people saw Hitler as a way to prosperity, and followed him without question. They did prosper for some time during the war, more or less the first half, but as Germany started to lose the war, life became harder and harder on the German people.

When the Allies were victorious, they learned from this lesson, and though the Soviets, who were still resentful of the horrible treatment of their people by the Nazis during the war, treated the Germans in the half of the country they had conquered very poorly, the rest of the Allies sent in aid to the German people on their side of the imaginary line between East and West Germany, which was eventualy made a physical reality with the Berlin Wall (on which construction began on August 13, 1961).

at the beginning, he was just a soldier, but he began to stand out of the rest, because he was a good leader, smart, and had discipline, military leaders started to know who Hitler was, and he was recognized nationally for his good work, and after giving speeches, and meeting the correct people, he became the leader of a whole nation.

Hitler was very popular in Germany between 1933 and 1944 because after WW1 Germany suffered financially and their national pride was hit bad as land was taken from them and they had to make payments to the allies and this was at the time when The Great Depression was taking place. In Germany there was well over 3 million people unemployed and just feeding your famliy was hard. So they felt the new Weimar Republic (Democratic Germany) had failed them and at the time it was between National Socialism or Communism. Most choose Nazism as they promised to help the middle class and the farmers who accounted for more the 50% of the population. Even then the population didn't totally trust them so when Hitler came into power in was in coallition with the conservatives but they were taken out quick and discreet. The economy of Germany went flying up and a lot of countries at the time envyed Germany, as their economy was booming and most people now had jobs. So the people thought Hitler had kept his word in regards to the promises he had made during his campain so to them he was like a god . Mein Kempf helped rally Nazi pride and Dr. Goebbel's Propaganda machine was working very well.
