Hello there !
Are there any special conditions in Florida ?
I live in Stockholm SWEDEN and have a 1998 VW Passat Variant with a 1.8T engine.I have always used a fully synthetic 5W-40 oil from a well known manufacturer as recommended by VW without any problems.

10w30 synthetic is best
Yes, and I highly recommend you use synthetic in any air cooled engine. Use SAE 10W30 or SAE 30 weight.
No, as long as it is the proper weight. In fact I highly recommend synthetic oil be used in any air cooled engine.
The correct oil weight is now 5W20; it used to be 5W30, but Ford has recently allowed your engine to use 5W20 as an energy saving oil. If you don't use synthetic oil, stick with the 5W30; non-synthetic 5W20 will burn out your engine faster than non-synthetic 5W30.
Use 100% synthetic oil in the exact weight as recommended by the manufacture of the engine.
If you mean 5w20 synthetic the answer is NO. Pontiac recommends SAE 10w30 weight oil in Synthetic or Conventional. Use exactly that weight.
10w30 is a good choice year round. I highly recommend you use synthetic oil in this air cooled engine.
In a Brand new engine it is recommended that you get the rings seated before you start using Synthetic oils. So run your engine for 3,000 miles and then you can switch to a Synthetic.
Yes, and I highly recommend you use synthetic in an air cooled engine.
5w30 synthetic
After the break in period it is not an issue.
conventional. I wouldn't put synethic in it unless it has already had it in the engine. Synthetic is mostly used in high performance or new vehicles. Synthetic won't do anything for an older engine
