He didn't really have any- he was a boy-king who came to power after the death of his father, Henry VIII, and was only 9 when he was crowned. Because of his extreme youth he was never in a position of any real power or authority, serving as a figurehead monarch whilst real policy was decided upon by the 'Regency Council', an appointed group of guardians who included Lord Dudley and the Duke of Northumberland.
Edward suffered from ill-health for most of his short life and wasn't in a position to think much about the future. His six year reign saw economic crisis which resulted in widespread rioting in London, and an inconclusive and very expensive war with Scotland, which in those days was an independent state. His known ambitions were to unite Scotland with England (much as his father had done with Wales), and to ensure that a Protestant remained on the throne, but beyond this, little is known of what his plans for the nation were. He founded the now-famous chain of King Edward Grammar Schools, which still thrive today.
He died at the age of only 15 in 1553, probably of TB, after having been persuaded by his guardian the Duke of Northumberland to appoint Lady Jane Grey as his successor over and above his two elder sisters, Mary and Elizabeth Tudor.
