You just replaced th egr valve for a 2002 Mustang and your check engine light came on a day later and test said it was your egr valve again what can cause this?

Possibly other systems connected to the egr valve are faulty. You may need to have a professional diagnose the problem, rather than replacing parts.

Try cleaning or replacing the idle air control valve (IAC) located on intake manifold next to EGR valve.

The idle control valve is mounted on the side of the throttle body. Carbon building up in the valve will cause the engine not to run properly.

What would cause my 88xy to idle up and leak oil out of head gasket and valve cover gasket?

Hmm... it could be several factors. Is the Check engine light on? If so, see if it points to your fast idle control valve or air intake valve. Either one may be the cause of the high idle, especially if the idle is rough. The leak in the valve cover gasket could be as simple as replacing the cover gasket, unfortunately, it is difficult to assess the machine over the internet.
