2003 Saturn Ion clunking when breaking
Buick makes a clunking sound from trans area when accelerating.
A clunking noise when shifting gears on a K1500 automatic transmission, might mean a problem with the drive axle or drive shaft. Check all U-Joints to make sure they are working properly.
If it's a type of clunking noise, check your gearbox. If it's some kind of rattling, check your hubcaps.
One clunk when accelerating (but now repeated clunks) and another when braking can be caused by broken motor mounts.

It can if it is really bad. Try not to drive it and have someone who is mechanically inclined check it out, it could be a number of things.

A car that is in good running condition should not make a clunking noise. If a person pushes the gas and brake pedal at the same time causing a car to make a clunking noise, that is an indication of stain on the motor.
