1st check fuse is ok. I believe is is labeled BK/Lamp or some abbreiviation.
2nd verify bulb(s) ok (I doubt if both are bad).
3rd with park brake on, ignition on and in revearse, test for voltage coming from switch located on transmission. If ok there, then you most likely have a wiring broblem, possibly a bad ground.
The Sensor for the fans is located on the upper right side of the radiator, ( the Passenger side).
go to your local part store an pick up some wheel spacers
I have a '95 buick regal with a similar problem. I took it to the local dealer, who changed the crankshaft positioning sensor and one of the ignition modules and the problem was fixed. I researched it on the internet and found several other cases with the same sensor problem. You can in theory change it yourself, but it's not easy - I think I paid $200-250 for parts and labor.

May be burning it slowly enough not to emit smoke Is the underside of the car oily wet looking? It maybe a oil pan gasket, some will not leak until on the highway. Look on the back end of car for oil spots.
Take old lights out. Put new lights in. Done. You have just changed the interior lights on a 97 Buick Regal!

Worn trans or diff parts. If it gets worse, have it looked at.

Normally this would be wired into the Instrument Lights.
There are no lights. their just reflectors.
I have a 1992 regal and the flasher is under the glove-box behind a piece of black plastic,the switch is on the steering column,the lights are on the front and rear of the vehicle.
