What would cause the winshield wipers to turn off in the upright positionthey work fine but like you said when off they stay in the upright position on a 2000 grand prix and how do you fix it?

i got the same problem in a 2002 Monte Carlo. i think it's the wiper motor. specifically, the limiting switch inside the motor that tells it where to rest. This one got messed up after the owner tried to use the wipers to clear ice...i know... It works fine, intermittent is fine, everything, just off is up.

there is a park tab that is on the arms that can bend out of place i just bent mine back in place it could probably be replaced also
