Sounds like the MLP switch on the driver's side of the transmission. If you have a 93 or 94 they are known to be iffy and should be changed to the newer version (about $25.00) It's like a neutral safety switch but does other things too. Hope this helps.
where is the fuel reset swith for a 1989 mercury topaz
Your '01 Lincoln Town car might not shift gears because it is low on transmission fluid or because the transmission is damaged.
You do not oil all the gears, instead you oil only the middle path or gears and the clock starts going again. =)

There is no sensor.. it's a series of mechanical gears.
Your speed sensor is faulty replace it...
Your truck may not shift gears because the transmission sensor is damaged or broken. It also may not shift gears because the transmission or linkage is damaged.
When driving a car with an automatic transmission up a steep hill it is not necessary to shift gears. The car will do that on its own when necessary.
In some vehicles, yes.

try the transmission ouput speed sensor
You need to remove the front drive line, remove the encoder motor assy. On the bench remove the motor and plate together to expose the gears, mark the gears with a sharpy and remove the big gear, the sensor is on the bottom. plug in new sensor and reverse to assemble.
