When your 1992 cavalier idles high and then goes back down in park and when put in drive or reverse idles so low it almost dies then goes back up to normal help?

sluggish IAC motor (Idle air control) On throttle body held on by 2 torx screws remove and clean with carb cleaner. also open TB and spreay carb cleaner and scrub inside of TB with tooth brush. Remove Black gunk from inside. Ofcourse when not running. If that dosent works check for vac. leakes.

You have to unplug the electronic speedometer sensor located on the top rear of the transmission. It can be reached from above but its easiest to find with a lift. I have a 1990 cavalier and it has the same issue. I think its a problem with the sensor module that the speedo reader plugs into.
