search Google for 1997 Wrangler FSM It is the factory service manual and you may find a link to download it for free. They are awesome.
Many things, but a clutch bearing seems likely.
Yes the pump works off of the engine
First check for mechanical interference from the clutch mechanism to throttle linkage.
rotate engine until adjuster is on the bottom through the hole on the bottom of the bell housing, wedge something between the seat and clutch pedal it has to be pushed down to turn the adjuster
Probably the Clutch Master Cylinder or the slave cylinder.
The clutch safety switch keeps the car from starting unless the clutch is pushed in. On the top of the clutch pedal there is a little black box with a plunger on it. When the clutch is pushed in the electrical connection to the starter solenoid is completed. The switch just unscrews from the bracket.
Whenever a clutch pedal is depressed entirely, the car engine is not connected to the drivetrain, so any fuel being used by the engine is being wasted. When a clutch is partially pushed in (engaged), the clutch plates tend to slip, and so part of the engine's power turns into heat (due to friction between the slipping plates) rather than driving the wheels. In either case, only when the clutch is not being pressed at all is all of the engine's power fully transmitted to the driving wheels. So any time the clutch is being used, some engine power is being not getting to the driving wheels, which wastes fuel.
The pressure plate is not fully releasing (clutch pack is bad)
Did you break the clutch cable or the clutch disc?Clutch cables break because they just wear out. The axle can't do that. What normally causes clutch discs to fail is overstress: you pushed the clutch in without letting off the gas, downshifted at too high a speed, or souped up your engine without putting a stronger clutch in the car. Axles can't do that either.
There isn't any linkage, it has a cable, check to see if the cable is loose. There is a U clip that holds the cable in place,if the U clip is in place and there isn't any slack in the cable, it could be your tranny. Is the clutch disengaging? If when you push the clutch in the engine can be turned over or the car can be pushed, it is not a problem with the clutch.
The clutch will normally be pushed out and/or the transmission will disengage on its own. Many vehicles also have electronic systems which shut off the engine and allow the vehicle to freewheel.
because i pushed it there with my foot
