Some helpthere is a screw located between the bumper and the vehicle you must use a long Phillips to get to it, most likely the plug is loose that is the problem I had.How to remove a tail lightThere are actually 3 screws you need to loosen on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. At least there are on the LSE model. One of them is located between the bumper the tail light, and as stated before you will need a long Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw. The other two are located along the side of the taillight inside the little black things that look like air vents. Once you remove all of the screws, slide the taillight straight back. Try not to shake it out of place or a small black plastic rod will break. If the plastic rod does break it will not harm the vehicle or affect the operation of the taillight. Then remove the corresponding bulb by turning the bracket counter clockwise and pulling the bulb out. The correct bulb number for a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LSE is 1157.On the 1989-1997 models all is the same except you need to remove the screws from the backside of the unit to remove the lens and the bulbs are pushed in and turned counter clockwise to remove.
If you have properly removed all the screws it should just come off. Did you make sure all the screws are removed? There is one that is located inside that is covered by a round black rubber piece. Perhaps you missed that one. If you did miss it. I advice that you use a magnetic screwdriver because if the screw falls into the hole it's very difficult to get out. The only thing I can think of besides missing a screw is if the weather strip melted and have fused with the upper molding but this is rare. And if this is the case all you have to do is pull on it to remove it.
I'm glad you asked! On the 1997 GC, you have to remove 2 screws. One will require removal of the cover under the door handle, the other is located toward the actual latch. (it has a cover on it) Remove both screws and pry (carefully) the panel off. (you WILL want to disconnect the power window switch to make this happen) The Speakers are held on with 3 screws.
In order to replace the bulb you have to remove the whole taillight. To remove the taillight you have to 1) remove the clips that are holding the carpet to the side wall of the truck. 2) You need to remove the two screws that are holding the taillight on just outside the openning of the trunk. 3) Remove the two plastic clips that hold the back part of the taillight on, just inside the truck, under the carpet on the side wall of the trunk. Once you've removed those, remove the rubber seal that holds the wires to the body of the car. Again just inside the truck under the side wall carpet. Now the taillight can be removed from the body of the car. Pull it away from the car gently and you should be able to loosen the lightbulb assembly from the taillight with a slight twist. It might be a little stiff, but just a little twist and the assebly should come free from the taillight. Once the assembly is away from the taillight, pull the old bulb off and replace with the new bulb and repeat the sets in reverse order to put it back to together. This took me all of 15 mins to do, just make sure that you don't brake the plastic clips as the side wall carpet won't stay up with out them.
