When setting the timing on a 95-98 Dodge neon there are two indicators for spot on timing
- The first is on the block of the motor its in the shape of a arrow pointing toward the timing belt gear attached to the crank shaft. line up the arrow on the block to the notch on the timing belt gear for top dead center on the block.
- The second is a notch on the back splash guard at the very top. this lines up with a notch on the cam pulley lining these two notches with give you top dead center for the head.
- ** NOTE** Be very careful not to damage your valves when doing this other wise you bend a valve and not be able to maintain full or any compression in one or more combustion chambers.
Once you have lined up your timing indicators you can reinstall the timing belt pensioner and reinstall the splash guard cover.
