Not sure if its the same as on my '89. On the '89 it is in the centre console forward of the shifter. The '89 actually has two relays in the bos, so even if the fuel pump relay is shot, you may still here the other one click when you turn on the ignition. Hope that helps.
The fuel pump and MFI relays are located next to each other inside the car on the passenger side behind the center console. Take off the plastic interior panel which your left leg would rug against if you sat in the passenger seat. The two relays are mount on a vertical metal bar behind the removed interior panel.
The 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse fuel pump is located in the gas tank. The fuel pump will be behind the fuel pump retaining plate.
Under the back seat.
those 2 next to your master cylinder are your fuel pump relay and (asd) automatic shutdown relay. one to the left is the fuel pump relay. the one that is closest to right tire.
If a person bought a 6 prong fuel pump relay for the 1977 Mercedes 450 SL that needs a 5 prong relay, this will not work. The 6 prong fuel pump relay has to be exchanged for the right one. Inserting the wrong electronic parts may lead to a fire.
my 1997 Geo Metro acts the same way, I was able to figure out that it was a fuel problem because I sprayed some carburetor cleaner into the air filter compartment and it started, it would keep running as long as I kept spraying. I mentioned it to a mechanic friend and he suggested I replace the fuel pump relay. Based on my own experience with other cars, when its time to replace the relay it is usually time to replace the fuel pump too, because it might be starting to have a problem that causes the relay to overload.
Hi there I'm no car expert but my Mitsubishi Eclipse 95 was giving me the same problem, after 2 months of mechanics trying to figure it out they discovered it was the fuel filter so probably u should have that checkedToni
Most fuel pumps operate on 12-14.2 Volts. (system voltage). Keep in mind that most fuel pumps operate off a relay and the relay is turned on and off by the engine computer. Most computer control the GROUND circuit of the relay to power it on and off. It is fairly common to have to replace the fuel pump in the tank as the brushes wear out after about 100,000 miles
The fuel pump on a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage is located inside the fuel tank. Its placement allows it to push fuel toward the engine in a more efficient manner.
I have a 94 mirage, same problem. After changing several parts... seems the problem is the fuel pump relay. This relay is also called the ignition relay. Available only at NAPA. $76. Its metal, 8 pin, 2" x 2" maybe behind the radio. The check is: hear if the fuel pump will turn on for the second before starting.
