Autozone carries this type of sensor, runs around $15AnswerIt is located behind the engine near the firewall. It's a bit tricky to get to it, you would need to rotate the engine forward. Then look under the exhaust manifold under the cylider closest to the drivers side. 10 mm deepsocket for the bolt.
That's fine but I want to where it is on a 1996 Olds. Cutlass supreme.
where is the crank sensor located at on a 1996 cutlass ciera wit a 3.1 engine
It takes a special gauge to install the crank sensor. It can be rented from some parts stores.
It is behind the harmonic balancer.
Behind the harmonic balancer (dampner) that is located behind the crankshaft pulley.
where is the crank sensor located on a 2002 Oldsmobile intrigue 3.5
the crank sensor is behind the harmonic balancer
It's on the back of the engine....and hell to get to. Better off taking to a garage. I just broke mine off. Now I have to drop the oil pan and drive it back out.
be more specific what kind of noise if any at all wont turn over ? it will not even crank up
The 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 liter engine crank sensor is located on the back of the crank. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to view the crank sensor.
i had same problem on my 94 cutlass supreme...long story short, it was the ignition switch. $300. at shop.
It depends what engine you have but its typically on the front of the engine(th side where the belts are) and its on the front timing cover, sometimes under the crankshaft pulley,
What size engine is it?? An internet search of the specific engine's crank sensor location might give you the answer. It's on the back side (transverse mount) on the lower part of the block on the 2.8L/3.1L/3.4L engine. That's as good of a place as any to start looking on other engines.
The crank shaft positioning sensor is behind the starter. A real bear to get to.
on the front of the motor under the front crank it has a plug going to the crank.
THE CRANK SESOR IS LOCATED BEHIND THE STARTER ON THE 2.2.
The crank shaft position sensor is just above the oil filter at the tail end of the starter
For 3.5l, remove starter.
If you are referring to the Crankshaft sensor, or crank angle sensor it is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment near the harmonic balancer. (For the 3.1 L) I have a 95 with a 3.1L and it had intermitant missing and starting problems. I replaced the crank position sensor (which was located behind the harmonic balancer) and the camshaft position sensor (located under the power steering pump) and it corrected the problem.
Its either your cam shaft position sensor or the crank sensor.
Never heard of an "ignition sensor". Do you mean oxygen sensor, or maybe crank position sensor, or cam position sensor? There is an ignition "module" also... The oxygen sensor is on the exhaust manifold. The crank posiiton sensor is on the backside of the block. The cam position is on each head.
It is located on the rear of the motor, under the exhaust manifold. Be careful when taking it out, they have been known to break off in the hole, and then become a real pain to finish the repair..
Fire wall side of the engine, just before the transmission.
just above the starter on the front of the motor. will have to take the starter off to get to it.
The crank sensor is located behind the Harmonic balancer. Try not to break the rubber within the Harmonic balancer when removing or on the safe side replace both the Crank sensor and the Harmonic balancer ( the big pulley on the bottom - most part of the engine.)
