Installation documentation for electronic devices such as receivers (Pioneer is one of many names) usually comes shipped with the device (in the box). On a chance that you acquired such a device from a friend, and your friend conveniently discarded the documentation, including installation instructions, You can Google (search via search engine) the manufacturer's website on the internet, and find product documentation through a "Support" link on their site page. The documentation is usually a PDF (portable document file) format and uses Adobe's free Acrobat Reader to view.

If the above doesn't work, then you can manually figure the wiring by simple means: Red is usually the Positive (+) lead, and black is usually the Negative (-) lead. A typical stereo has 2 channels (left and right) and you can match the insulation color on the speaker wires to the connectors on the back of the speakers and the stereo/receiver as well. If your a total DIY type that went to the Shack and bought some odd gauge clear coated speaker wire, then you can run the wires yourself. If I do this, one of the 2 wires will have a narrow white strip on the outside, and this is the lead that I like to dedicate as the ground wire. Another indicator for uncolored insulation is that one lead will be a darker copper color, and the other lead might be a lighter silver color.

A complete surround sound system that is referred to as 5.1 or 6.1 or 7.1, the connections are trickier, *BUT* the manufacturer's are intuitive enough to color code the connections, and label channels to their respective pinout assignment (which pairs of connectors go to which speakers). This diagram is also available in the PDF documentation as well. A standard 5.1 surround sound system has a FL - front left, CC - center channel, FR - front right, SW - subwoofer (the .1 channel), RL - Rear Left, and RR - rear right channels.
