zoos

most zoos.

The above is true now, but it is now believed that the cheetah evolved in North America, chasing the pronghorn (there is no herbivor that can run this fast, and explains the over evolved nature of cheetahs)

They crossed over the land bridge a long time ago.

There is much discussion as to whether the American cheetah was not more stockily built than the African cheetah, looking somewhat like a cross between the cheetah and leopard.

There is a project underway in the states to set up a national park in the states and populate it with relatives of extinct American animals (American cheetah, lion, wooly rhino, mamouth etc), not sure whether it will ever happen

Yes, cheetahs do live in the Sahara Desert.

Originally cheetah were found all over Africa and Asia as well as parts of Europe, and even America. They went through a bottle neck in earths recent history, getting down to a very low number (some suggest just a pregnant mother).

The cheetahs of the Sahara desert, are part of the north African population of no more than 250 cats. There was a picture of one on the BBC website recently, that had been caught in a camera trap
