Best Answer

One hundred percent of the world's diamonds come from a depth of between 140 to 180 km within the earth's mantle and are erupted to the earth's surface by way of volcanic pipes.

Only one in 200 of these pipes produces diamonds. Volcanic pipes are being mined today in many countries in Africa -- Botswana being the largest producer there -- and in Canada, India, Brazil, Russia and Australia.
India or that general area. From the ground.

All of the world's diamonds come from the earth. They can be found on every continent except Europe and Antarctica. Many diamonds come from Africa, but Canada and Australia are not far behind in terms of gross production.
