The transmission dipstick is yellow and it is located under the air filter. To add Transmission Fluid just pour DEXTRON into where the dipstick is, once you remove the dipstick. You generally don't need to add any fluids. It does need to be changed just like the oil. Do this at least every 2 years. It will cost you though, its something you have to bring it into a mechanic for. If its anything like my g/f's 1997 Civic Ex, its on the passanger side of the engine, in between the firewall and the transmission. Its hard to see it because it only sticks up about 4 inches or so, but once you spot it, it becomes obvious. go here. http://www.geocities.com/amannadrummer/civicextranny.txt
The Honda automatic transmission is filled through the transmission dipstick hole.
there is not a dipstick on a manual transmission
The transmission dipstick on a 1987 Honda Civic is located to the left of the oil dipstick. It is close to the left edge of the engine.
If it's automatic, through the dipstick hole & if it's manual, special bolt on transmission. (close to the drive shaft)
How do I check the transmission fluid on a 1983 Honda Civic 1500DX
A 1989 Honda Civic did not make use of a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead there are two bolts available. A filler bolt and a drain bolt.

5 speed yes....automatic no
Yes they sell them with a manual or automatic transmission.
No it will not interchange. You need an Accord transmission from a 1990-1993.
Yes, you'd have to find the stock automatic transmission for your year and engine size, the stock automatic brake pedal assembly, and miscellaneous small things like transmission fluid, the transmission dipstick tube, linkages, etc.
The automatic transmission will have a dip stick location on a 1982 Honda Civic. Pull the dip stick to see the color and texture of the fluid.
