DO YOU MEAN THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH?
The clutch start switch is bad.you will find it at the top of the clutch pedal
The clutch interlock switch is located under the dashboard and is similar if not identical to the brake light switch. you will find it where the clutch pedal extends to the furthest down position under the dash. It prevents you from starting the vehicle without depressing the clutch thus preventing starting up in gear, its a safety issue if someone is standing in front of you when you do it you will run them over, but if you need to just cross the wires.
you have a neutral safety switch on the auto trans so it will only start in P or N you need to find out which of the 2 wires they are and tie them together and it should crank or you can make it a push button start
The neutral safety switch on your vehicle is mounted on the transmission. It screws out and transmission fluid will leak out when you remove it.
the neutral safety switch located on the rightside of the automatic gearbox.
how do i find the neutral, or clutch switch on a 2003 ford F150?
buy a new starter switch. WAIT! I had the same exact problem and replaced the solenoid with the same result. It is actually the neutral switch not making contact when you are engaging the clutch. Try pressing the clutch down really hard and it may start. Or better yet, just adjust the contact switch towards the clutch and you have fixed the problem! Unless the starter switch is the same thing the mechanic that told me it was a neutral switch
To bypass the cars neutral safety switch, you need to find the two wires to the safety switch and connect them together. It can also be done by putting the car in neutral.
a better way of fixing it is to find the wires going into the switch and just join them together thus bypassing the switch and the need the buy a new switch if that is the problem and the need to press the clutch at the same time
I had that problem, but by simply bending the bracket on which the switch is mounted to make better contact with the clutch pedal mechanism, the problem was solved. Look up under the dash on the drivers side. Follow the brake pedal up and you will find the switch. It is a simple device to adjust or replace.
find where the shift linkage connects to the transmission, on some model cars the neutral safety switch is there, it may be a multi switch also controlling the reverse lights.
I am in no way a pro at this or even sure about this, but I have a 98 Metro LSI, and have had problems with my car starting because it doesnt alway recognize that the clutch is in. I believe that is what you are asking about. If you look near the top of Clutch peddle you will find a couple of wires that go to the switch and these on my car come loose and sometimes have a bad connection. Since you have to get under the steering wheel it is not the easiest access area, but there are no panels to remove so you should be able to trace the wires to the switch if it isn't the switch that is connected to the top of the clutch. Hope that helps
