A person adds Power Steering fluid under the hood of the car to the power steering fluid reservoir. It is labeled power steering, on a yellow twist cap.
The power steering system on a 2002 Plymouth Voyager uses automatic transmission fluid.
lacing windshield fluid reseroir on 198 plymouth grand voyager
what do I need to change the 1997 Plymouth voyager transmission oil
you can use any type of power steering fluid, personally i use transmittion fluid as it is cheaper then power steering fluid only down side is it takes longer to warm up in the cold weather
steering in the right directionPower steering systems arent all that picky so the generic power steering fluid at the parts store will do check the back for particular applications, and dextron atf will also work.
If it making a loud squealing sound when you turn the steering wheel, the power steering fluid level is low. The reddish fluid you are seeing on the ground is power steering fluid. It is probably leaking and that would be why the fluid level is so low.
My 1998 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER has 2 pumps one for the front and one for the back. They are both located in the bottom of the reservoir.
Use a turkey baster to remove excess fluid
Mopar ATF+4
Remove transmission oil pan for access to filter. Replace pan gasket, fluid and filter
ATF+4 is the correct fluid for 99' grand voyager. Many Chrysler transmissions are NOT compatible with standard fluid! ATF+4 is usually the best one to use with automatic transmissions before 2001, ATF+5 after. My '99 Plymouth Grand Voyager's owner's manual calls for ATF+3. Whether ATF+4 covers ATF+3, I couldn't say, so check the label :-).
