Open the engine cover. You will see the fan belt. The thing bolted to the top pulley is the alternator, and it's sitting on the alternator stand. There's a spout coming up from the left side of the alternator stand, and it's got a screw-in cap normally with a hose coming out of it that runs up to the air filter. That spout is where the oil goes.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle?

if one was put on the car it should be in-line. you should find it in the hose leading to the carb just before the hose goes in to the carb. if you don't see one there you should put one there.

Is there an oil filter on a 1974 Super Beetle?

Get John Muirs -"How to keep your Volkswagen alive, A manual for the Compleat Idiot" and Bentleys "workshop manual". They have a huge amount of info, John Muir is a "real world" work-book and the Bently Manual is the VW "Official Workshop Manual" . No. None on any Beetle in the USA. I believe VW didn't put them on until they moved the plants to Mexico/Brazil. Not sure what years they finally put them on. Late '90's????? There are after-market ones you can put on tho.
