I have a Pont.GrandAm1997 2.4Lit. Two days ago,my car starting stalling, rough riding, sporting black exhaust fumes. The engine code cam on and gave a code PO108, MAP sensor troubles. Finding the MAP sensor was difficult, just about everything i found on the internet said on the firewall or near. I brought the car into VIP and three sales clerk could not identifly the MAP sensor on the vehicle(mechanics were too busy to look). As you know, the Grand AM 2.4 liter engine is sideways and the front of the engine faces to the left. The MAP sensor was on the side of the
engine near the front of the car. Near the top. The "X" is
where the MAP sensor is. It is about the size of two sticks of gum.
I was under the impression the MAP sensor was large. It
has a small hose attached to the bottom of the map sensor.

it with electrical tape...and my car regained power and
the engine light never came back on!

the ckp for the 3.8 is located at the harmonic balancer on all applicatins remove the right side (passenger) tire and also the plastic shroud, you should be able to access the crank sensor from there You'll have to pull your harmonic balancer to change the crank sensor.

On the 97 s series trucks with the hvs, The camshaft sensor is located inside of the distributor.
Remove the distributor cap and rotor. It is the only electronic device that you will see. The cam sensor.
The crankshaft sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine, close to the coil pack. It is easier to reach it from under a raised vehicle.
Would cause intermittent cut out, or dies off/no start. It is located behind the motor mount on the passenger side of the engine. You can remove it with out removing the mount. There is one bolt to loosen and the sensor will pull out.

crank sensor is located at the top of the transmission bell housing, two hex bolts that hold the crank sensor in place.
