i don't know for sure man, im looking for exactly the same thing. I also have a 06 Chevy impala with a v6 3.9 litter engine. Im guessing you want to install that resistor performance chip. I purchased that chip myself and on the installation instructions, i have found out that you have to look for a two wire plug. I have looked under the hood and i think i found it but im not sure if its right. Its located on the far left side near the edge around the same are where the battery is. Im too scared to do anything but if you want to try it and see what happens be my guest. Dont forget to disconnect your battery first before you try anything.

It"s connected to the hood latch. Hope this helps
in the fuse box under the hood
On the 2006 Chevy Impala, the thermostat is located in the hose that is directly above the middle cylinder. It is on the driver's side of the engine compartment right behind the alternator. Look for a long hose that goes from the radiator to that location.
