The oil pressure switch/sender on my 2003 Trailblzer, (L6 engine) is directly above the oil filter. It threads in from the passenger side. It is a pain to get to, even with a 1-1/16" deep-well socket.
GM tends to recommend 5W-30 oil.

The oil pressure sensor screws into the block. It is mounted close to the oil filter and should be easy to reach.

1. verify that the oil pressure is actually dropping using a calibrated oil pressure gauge. 2. most likely scenario, the oil pressure is not really dropping, the oil pressure sending unit on your vehicle is bad...common Chevy v8 problem
