there is a collant sensor at the right side of the engine near the return pipe to the radiator. I' not sure if it is the only one but I know it controls the radiator fan.

Mine is a '92 and the sensor is screwed into the back of the radiator on the passenger side about halfway down.
The "Low Coolant Sensor" on a 1997 Pontiac Montana is located appro 6" below the radiator cap which is on the left as your facing the engine. The sensor measures the fluid level in the radiator itself and is prone to giving false alarms when it gets dirty.

There is 2 coolant sensors. 1 is for the temperature gauge and the other is for the computer to tell it what fuel mixture is needed.
perhaps you have a bad coolant level sensor?
On my 99 sunfire it is directly to the back/side of the alternator; very easy to spot

If you mean for Coolant level sensor it is on the bottom of the plastic coolant dish on the passenger side of the car.
The coolant temp sensor is located next to the thermostat housing.
