The crankshaft sensor is on the side of the engine behind the alternator. It is mounted close to the oil filter,
on 2.3l It is on the front of the motor under the intake manifold next to the starter.
If the Tech goes out and your TCS indicator comes on it could be your crank shaft sensor
Check the 2001 Grand Ams crank shaft position sensor first. If the sensor is bad then the engine will not get fire or start.
The crank shaft position sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer/crank shaft pully on the front of the engine. You can see the wires for the sensor run behinf the pully into a plastic housing.
The 1995 Pontiac Grand Am 3.1 liter engine crank shaft sensor is located inside of the rear engine cover. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft sensor.

It's on the inside of the Harmonic Balancer Pully. It shoud be blue in color

most likely behind the plate covering the timing gears, at the front of the engine.
Does your vehicle have the LT1? if so there is no crank sensor.. there is an optic sensor in the distributor that controls all..
