The crankshaft position sensor on a 2.0L Kia Sportage is located on the drivers side of the transmission housing, about 1 inch rear of the engine block. It is held on by on by one bolt (10mm). The electrical connector has a wire type lock mechanism, and you will need a hook style tool that comes that comes to a point. It is very tight in this area, the sensor is behind the transmission dipstick tube. You will have to get under the vehicle to get the connector released. To get the sensor out, pull off the left front wheel, and remove the rubber mud shield. The sensor is on the side of the transmission, and your view will be obstructed by the transmission dipstick tube. The one bolt you have to remove is a 10mm head, and a small 10 mm open end/box end wrench will fit. You will only get a small swing on the wrench, but you can get the bolt out easily with your fingers. This is a tight squeeze, so take your time.
