If it's a B240 engine it is at the rear of the head (i.e., up against the firewall). There are three bolts holding the distributer cap on, two are reasonably easy to get off but the third is a mother. A socket on a flex handle (not a swivel) is recommended. The rotor will frequently be stuck to the shaft. Gentle (I do mean gentle) prying will free it. AH
In the 1989 Volvo 740 GL with a Bosch system it is located just above the steering column on the dash.
I'm trying to do a tuneup on my 89' 740 Volvo with turbo. Having problems getting the distributor rotor off?
Probably - remove distributor cap and look
under the left hand bumper
i have a 1989 740 and mine is located on under the hood it the green 1 on the side next to the air filter
to change the distributor on a 740 Volvo undo the 3 captive bolts that attach it to the back of the rocker box you will find it easiest to you use a short box spanner and yes it is awkard
Not necessarily, most do however.
The fuse box for a 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. You can find it by looking to the left of the steering column, near the side of the dashboard. There may be a cover that needs to be removed to access the fuses. Additionally, there is a second fuse box located in the engine compartment for certain circuits.
in the distributor in the rear of the engine. sometimes known as a hall sensor
On a 1989 Volvo 740, the coolant temperature sensor is typically located on the engine block near the thermostat housing. It is usually positioned on the driver's side of the engine, close to the intake manifold, and may have a single or dual wire connector. To access it, you may need to remove any obstructing components, such as the air intake or engine cover.
try changing the crank shaft sensor, which is located on the firewall on the 1991 740 non turbo sedan,i had the same problem and just about a month ago had to replace it.
In the centre console behind the ash tray. AH
