For some strange reason Honda has the Fuel Filter on the INSIDE of the fuel tank. That is what the Honda dealership told me when I asked where the Fuel Filter was located on my 1999 Odyssey - I think that's dumb. It's obviously cheaper to replace a fuel filter that is mounted on the outside of a fuel tank 'cause it only takes a minute or two, maybe three....or four.....
So when the filter get's clogged the fuel pump will die, you'll end up paying big bucks for towing, parts, labor & taxes. I wonder how much it is for a Honda Fuel Pump? Probably $450+.
The 1998 Honda Odyssey has the same fuel filter location as the 1996 model seen in the video below.
In the fuel tank. It is a permanent filter and no maintenance is required.

According to this URL: http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/hondaodyssey20012004oeservicew0133-17867821.html "This vehicle (2001 Honda Odyssey van) does not have an in-line fuel filter between the fuel tank and the engine. Use this filter set when replacing the fuel strainer located inside the fuel tank, which is the only fuel filter on this vehicle." signed, each_one_teach_one
Believe it or not it is in the gas tank and is more of a strainer than a filter. I asked this of my local dealer shortly after purchasing a 2000 Oddity. Yuo have to have a special tool to even remove it. It's a stupid as the transmission, no filter. All you do is drain some fluid and replace. The 95-99 Honda Odyssey's have a fuel filter under the master cylinder, bolted to the inner fender.
it doesn't have a "fuel filter" so to speak of...it;s in the tank
It does have a fuel filter, it is located to the right of the battery. Go to this site: http://www.hondahookup.com/manuals/ sign up and download the repair manual free. It will explain how to replace it. Previous answers: "According to my Honda Dealer and American Honda Co. the 2000 Honda Civic does not have a fuel filter, it has a "strainer" located inside the fuel tank before the fuel enters the Fuel Pump."
There is no fuel shutoff on a Honda.
