check the bulbs if that does not work,check your wiring harness.i had the same thing happen to me and it was my wiring harness
under the hood you should find a small 10A or 15A fuse. There is a separate fuse for the trailer turn signals.

Whichever one won't exceed the tongue weight and towing capacity of the Explorer, and serves the purpose you want it to. I don't see how you expect us to know what trailer you need, especially as we have no way of knowing what it's for... you might want an enclosed trailer, open deck trailer, etc.
They can disconnect the trailer, but, if that trailer isn't included in the order for repossession, they cannot take it - doing so is theft, and a crime.
A wiring diagram for the trailer hitch on a 98 Explorer can be purchased at your local auto parts store. A repair book for the make and model of your vehicle will have the diagram included in it.

The trailer plug in the Jeep may be wired wrong. Make sure the tail light plug is connected to the jeep taillight circuit. Some trailer plugs include a "hot" wire that allows the trailer to run a few accessories. Your trailer tail lights may be connected to that circuit.
