try taking off the oil filler cap at the top of the engine...on my '95 turbo 900s that's where it was, the oil stick was attached to the oil filler cap.
Have you opened the large oil filler cap at the top of the engine? Although I don't know about a 9 3, on my '95 turbo 900s that's where it was...built into the cap.

The transmission dipstick is located to the left of the engine on a 1996 Toyota Avalon. It is near the oil dipstick.
I used 5wXX, I think it was 5w20, with good results on mine. What4ever was listed in the owner's manual. I always changed the oil regularly, at between 3000 and 5000 miles, so used regular oil not synthetics.
Presuming you are asking about the 5-speed and not the automatic.It is on the bottom of the transmission, and is recessed. It requires a special tool.Later 900s did not have a drain plug for the transmission.
If it is Saab900 SE (NG, I presume) it is attached to engine oil cap on top of engine (its big and yellow...can't miss it.) Turn the cap, pull out the dipstick attached. Yellow-brown tip indicates oil level.

A 1996-2014 Chevy Express Van 1500 transmission dipstick/tube and the engine oil dipstick/tube are both located under the hood on the passenger side. The engine oil dipstick should have a yellow handle. The trans dipstick is located next to the engine oil dipstick.
The 1996 Yamaha 1100 has a low oil warning light, in the instrument panel. The motor oil dipstick has a low oil mark.
Check the level of the engine by using the dipstick. The owners manual will show you where it is, how to use it and how often to check the level.
