Some new GM vehicles have a new cartridge type filter located on top of the engine. Open your owner's manual and read. More specifically it is towards the driver's side of the motor in front. The cover has a black cap with a large hex on top. As you turn the cap out, be careful that you don't wedge the socket as your backing it out.
