There are two oil sender switches on the 4 cylinder Passat. One is mounted low in the engine bay on top of the cast housing that the oil filter screws onto. A second one screws directly into the cylinder head, on the same side of the engine the gearbox mounts to. The sender switches both have different part numbers so don't get them mixed up.
to tell wat temperature your engine is.
i believe that the st has a 4afe (1.4l) engine. if that is the case the pressure sender is below the alternator and to the left of the oil filter. if it has a 3sfe (2.0l) the sender is on the drivers side of the cylinder head on the front.
Back of the engine, next to the distributor.
The oil pressure switch and oil sender for older 454's are mounted on the lower left front of the engine block just above the oil pan.
Location of oil pressure switch 2003 VW passat
If you have a 4.9L straight six engine it would be just to the right of the oil filter.
Oil pressure sender /fuel pump switch for 1995 Pontiac transport 3.1 is located between oil filter and starter at front of engine.
The oil pressure sender or switch is located at the rear of the engine, behind the distributor.
No. Often an electrical component will fail when it gets hot. It can be a little difficult to find if you aren't accustomed to diagnosing engine problems.
You could if you had a donor car. The trans, computer, wiring, cooling system, etc... are all different.
Oil Pressure Sender and SwitchFord Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-1999http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d800d46de.jsp -------------------------------------------------------------- Oil pressure senders are used for oil pressure gauges, whereas the oil pressure switches are used for vehicles equipped only with a low oil pressure warning lamp. The oil pressure senders/switches are located as follows: * 2.3L, 2.5L engine-Left side rear of the engine, in the cylinder head * 3.0L engine-Behind the right cylinder head, in the engine block * 2.9L and 4.0L engines-Left side front of the engine, below the cylinder head in the engine block * 5.0L engines-Left-hand front of the engine, below the rocker arm coverTESTING See Figures 1 and 2Fig. 1: Oil pressure sender and gauge wiring schematicFig. 2: Oil pressure gauge diagnostic chartOil Pressure Sender Use the accompanying diagnostic chart to help pinpoint oil pressure sender and oil pressure gauge malfunctioning.Oil Pressure Switch # To test the oil pressure switch, open the hood and locate the switch. # Disconnect the wire from the switch. Attach one end of a jumper wire to the terminal on the end of the wire, then touch the other end of the jumper wire to a good engine ground (any bare metal engine surface). Have an assistant observe the instrument gauge cluster while you do this and tell you if the low oil warning lamp illuminates or not; the low oil warning lamp should illuminate. ## If the lamp does not illuminate, skip to Step 3. ## If the lamp does illuminate, replace the switch with a new one. # Before jumping to any bad conclusions, try a different area for grounding the jumper wire on the engine. If the lamp still does not illuminate, touch the jumper wire end to the negative (-) battery post. ## If the lamp illuminates, the problem lies with the engine not being properly grounded. ## If the lamp does not illuminate, skip to Step 4. # Connect the original wire to the oil pressure switch. While sitting in the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to the ON position without actually starting the engine. Observe the other lights on the instrument cluster. ## If all of the other lights illuminate when turning the ignition switch ON, the oil pressure switch is defective and must be replaced. ## If none of the other lights illuminate, there is a problem with power supply to the instrument cluster and gauges.REMOVAL & INSTALLATION See Figures 3 and 4Fig. 3: Oil pressure and level switches used on the 2.9L and 4.0L enginesFig. 4: Oil pressure and level switches used on the 3.0L engine# Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Disconnect the wiring at the sender/switch. # Remove the oil pressure sender/switch from the engine. To install: # Coat the threads with electrically conductive sealer and thread the unit into place. Tighten the sender/switch to 10-18 ft. lbs (13-24 Nm). # Attach the wiring to the sender/switch and connect the negative battery cable.
on the cylinder head on the drivers side of the vehicle standing in front of the vehicle just above the engine block there is a round switch that's your oil pressure switch
